Purpose-built for law enforcement, the Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) RUSE Bar was created to fill a critical gap in vehicle intervention tools where existing options fall short. Designed by those who understand the demands of the job, this rugged product offers both protection and performance during tactical stops.
The TVI RUSE Bar mounts directly into a standard 2" tow receiver with the choice of two mounting depths and is designed with two features in mind. First, to protect the rear bumper of the pursuit vehicle during intentional contact maneuvers. Second, if you have ever looked behind the rear bumper of a new vehicle, you will notice that the bumper is almost all plastic. The TVI RUSE Bar solves the problem of trying to control a vehicle with plastic by providing a reliable steel contact surface with the suspect vehicle’s bumper, helping maintain control and postive pressure, reducing the risk of pursuit vehicle bumper damage, bumper failure, or suspect escape.
Constructed from tough 11-gauge US steel and fully welded throughout, this unit delivers the strength, durability, and confidence required in real-world tactical situations. Whether for patrol use or specialized units, the TVI RUSE Bar is the solution tactical teams have been waiting for.
Why should I buy the TVI RUSE Bar?
There are many generic hitch bumpers available on the internet. We have found in our experience conducting TVI’s in the real world is that those other options don’t stand up to the pressure and can fail at any time. The usual thickness of steel for these other products is usually about .06 inches thick, the TVI RUSE Bar is constructed of steel that is .120 inches thick. Our product is much stronger and will stand up to the force of vehicle on vehicle contact without bending or breaking.
The TVI RUSE Bar is designed to be non-vehicle-specific. Since police vehicles are often rotated, retired, or reassigned, the design of the TVI RUSE Bar allows it to be transferred between different vehicles. Unlike vehicle-specific equipment that becomes obsolete when the car is decommissioned, the TVI RUSE Bar offers long-term value by outlasting the vehicle itself. This means agencies don’t have to continually invest in new units every time a vehicle is replaced.
Currently only stocking the TVI RUSE Bar in primer. This is the most economical option and allows the end user to customize the RUSE Bar to their liking as well as offering ease of repair when the paint is damaged. Most customers paint theirs matte black or use a truck bed coating.
We thought about offering a powder coat option, and we may at a later date. The downside to powder coat is that while it is a strong and durable coating, once scratched or chipped the powder coat itself cannot be repaired.

Coating Recommendations
We highly suggest applying a coat of paint or other coating before installation and use. For optimum results, we recommend lightly scuffing the existing primer first and then applying the final coat of choice. Current stock of the TVI RUSE Bar is primed with self-etching primer before shipping to protect from corrosion in transit.
In our experience, Dupli-Color Truck Bed Spray withstands the elements well and does not fade as much as other products with prolonged sun exposure.
